Important Update: Stallholder Bookings

We’ve changed the way you secure a stall for our Friday in the Park event! This year, all bookings must be completed through our new online system. Make sure to follow the updated process to lock in your spot.

How to secure your Stall

Step 1: Choose Your Stall Type

There are four deadly types of stalls to choose from:

1. Food Vendor Stall 🍴

Cairns NAIDOC is calling on local food vendors to serve affordable, community-friendly meals that reflect the vibrant flavours of our region.
Important:

  • Must comply with Cairns Regional Council food regulations.
  • Must provide a current Food Handling Certificate with your application.
  • Due to limited space and power, all food stall EOIs will be reviewed and      approved by the Cairns NAIDOC Committee.

2. Community Stall 🖤💛❤️

We’re here to uplift Blak excellence.
Community stalls are for mob-owned small businesses, grassroots innovators, and community changemakers.
Showcase your creations, build connections, and be part of the movement.

3. Pre-Set Stall 🎪

Don’t have a marquee? No stress.
We’ve partnered with Underwood Party Hire to offer pre-set marquees in 6x6m, 6x3m, and 3x3m sizes.
Limited larger spaces available — perfect for a polished, professional setup.

4. Self-Provider Stall 🛖

Bringing your own branded marquee? Deadly.
Self-providers must supply their own 6x3m or 3x3m setup — all structures must be safely secured and meet outdoor event standards.

Step 2: Understand the Booking Process

Food Vendor Stalls & Community Stalls:
➔ Apply first by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI).
➔ Applications are reviewed by the Cairns NAIDOC Committee.

➔ If successful, you’ll be sent a payment link to purchase your stall ticket via Humanitix.

Pre-Set Stalls and Self-Provider Stalls:
➔ No need to wait!
➔ You can buy your stall ticket directly from Humanitix at any time.
➔ First in, best dressed — stalls can sell out fast.

Step 3: Pay Your Stall Fee and Bond

ALL STALL FEES ARE PAYBLE BY CARD ONLY.

Every stall (no matter the type) includes a Bond Fee.

Bond refunds are available after the event, but only if:

  • You meet all stall conditions,
  • You pack down properly,
  • You leave your area clean and safe.

✅ Follow the rules = Get your bond back.
❌ Break the conditions = Bond withheld.

Step 4: Final Confirmation

Once you’ve paid, you’ll receive a confirmation email with your booking details, bump-in instructions, what you need to bring on the day.

Policy Purpose

This policy outlines the terms, conditions, and procedures relating to the $200 bond paid by stallholders participating in the Cairns NAIDOC Committee’s “Friday in the Park” event.

Purpose of the Bond

  • Stallholders remain on-site until 4:00 PM on the day of the event.
  • All stall sites and equipment supplied (e.g., by Underwood Party Hire) are maintained in a clean and respectable condition for return.
  • The stallholder complies with the event’s terms and conditions, supporting a safe, respectful, and well-coordinated event for all participants.

Payment and Data Privacy

  • DIYDG does not collect, store, or have access to stallholders’ credit card or payment details, in alignment with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
  • This approach ensures compliance with national data protection regulations, mitigates risk of data breaches, and promotes best practice in financial data management.
  • By using Hummantix as a secure external processor, DIYDG upholds its commitment to protecting personal and financial information in accordance with current privacy laws and community expectations.

Conditions for Bond Reimbursement

Bonds will only be refunded if the following conditions are met:

  • The stallholder remains fully operational until 4:00 PM on event day.
  • The stall site is returned in a clean and undamaged state, with no missing or broken equipment.
  • There are no breaches of event rules, such as unauthorized early pack-down or unsafe practices.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in forfeiture of part or all of the bond.

  •   Bond return requests must be submitted within 30 days of the event date by completing the official Bond Return Request Form (available via the DIYDG website or emailed upon request).
  • The form must include the stallholder’s business name, contact details, booking reference, and valid bank account information for reimbursement.

Reimbursement Process

  • Once a completed Bond Return Request Form is received and the stall site is verified as compliant, DIYDG will process the reimbursement within 14 business days.

About the committee

The Cairns NAIDOC Committee is made up of 100% volunteers — mob and community who give their time, knowledge, and heart without pay, because standing for culture is non-negotiable.

We proudly secure government funding, corporate sponsorships, and generate ticket sales to cover the costs of delivering NAIDOC events.

But the Committee itself remains fully volunteer-run.

Every meeting, every late-night email, every big decision — it’s all carried by the hands of people committed to seeing our culture thrive.
