Get ready for the NAIDOC March by creating your own banner to carry.
Join us for a hands-on banner-making session where you can paint, decorate, and personalise your own sign to showcase your pride during the march. We’ll have cardboard signs ready for you, plus all the paint and supplies you need.
There will also be extra creative activities, including badge making and (hopefully) T-shirt screen printing. Don’t forget to bring a shirt to customise.
And while you’re getting creative, enjoy a sausage sizzle to keep the energy up.
It’s a great chance to come together, get creative, and get ready for the march. See you there!

As part of our commitment to celebrating NAIDOC and empowering young people, we hope to create time and space for community and families to come together to create, yarn and share this annual tradition. This is an opportunity to get involved, share stories, and contribute to our collective expression of pride and resilience.
The Cairns NAIDOC Committee acknowledges Traditional Custodians of the land upon which we gather and organise our NAIDOC events. We honour their knowledge of this Country and their stories. We pay respect to our Elders who have paved the way and advocate for our rights. Our respect extends to all families that now call Cairns home and their respective Countries.

The Cairns NAIDOC Committee is made up of 100% volunteers — mob and community who give their time, knowledge, and heart without pay, because standing for culture is non-negotiable.
We proudly secure government funding, corporate sponsorships, and generate ticket sales to cover the costs of delivering NAIDOC events.
But the Committee itself remains fully volunteer-run.
Every meeting, every late-night email, every big decision — it’s all carried by the hands of people committed to seeing our culture thrive.
